Who doesn't love a good chewy brownie?
But most of those good chewy brownies are full of chocolate and are more refined sugar than anything else!
If you're like me, those high sugary desserts just don't work with my body anymore. I thought surely there must be a way to make a brownie that is low sugar, and "high in chewy". :-)
After scouring dozens of recipes, it turns out sugar is the part that makes the brownie chewy. So what could be done?
Not discouraged, I decided to put my engineer's mind to work to create a way around the "sugar dilemma", to create the first all natural
Organic Carob Brownie Mix.
When crafting this recipe, I decided to use real wheat flour. Not the GMO laden prossed, nutrient void junk you find everywhere these days.
I knew the best pastry wheat flour was grown and milled right from our farm in Oregon. so, we started there.
Then we added all the love and ingredients we always do in a Missy J's treat like coconut sugar and Australian Carob powder, plus some extra special additions like coconut cream and apples creating the perfect textured, perfect sweetness, chewy brownie I had been dreaming of.
I was so pleased, but to give this new Organic Carob Brownie Mix the real taste test, I knew I had to bring in the "big guns",....my sister.
She has been baking since she was 7 and has written dozens of recipes for cookbooks. And being my sister, not real easy to please. :-)
On a trip across the country this summer, to visit her the mission of "Sister Taste test" was on.
Even though I was sure of the excellence of flavor, I still had some "little brother" trepidation. Off I went to HER kitchen to whip up the brownie mix.
It seemed like it took forever for it to cool, the suspense was palpable.
Moment of truth. The sacred brownie was cooled and ready for " the final countdown".
She took a bite, looked at me and said: "Did you do something special to it?". I stood there.
Then she said, "Do you mean if I take this mix right out of the pouch and just mix it up myself, it will turn out this good every time?" I grinned.
