Back in 2000, a 76-acre parcel of land in Booborowie, South Australia, came up for sale. Michael and Jam Jolley saw it as a chance to pursue their dream of having a sustainable, organic carob orchard. So they bought the land and planted a select variety of sweet carob trees – 6,000 total – that are now thriving with no pesticides or insecticides.

The carob pods are harvested in March and April and are taken directly to the manufacturing facility on site.

“As we do all the growing, harvesting, kibbling, roasting, milling and packing right here on our property, we can ensure that you get a non-contaminated product that’s nut-free, gluten-free and GMO free,” Michael said. “It’s absolutely the cleanest, most flavorful carob you’ll find anywhere.”

Carob is commonly used as a substitute for chocolate. It’s naturally sweet, so unlike cocoa it doesn’t need any additional sugar. It’s also free of caffeine and methyxanthines.

Carob has been used to treat stomach problems ever since the biblical days of John the Baptist. The tannins in carob help prevent harmful bacteria from growing in the intestine, and the natural sugars in carob can help treat diarrhea. It’s a good source of fiber, vitamin E, Thiamin, potassium and it’s full of antioxidants.

The Australian Carob Co. believes our carob products are the sweetest in the global market without the strong bitter taste normally associated with European/Mediterranean carob powders and products. We take pride in ensuring each individual tree has the appropriate water requirements and correct pruning year round. Like Azure Standard, our company uses sustainable "organic principles” with nature in our farming practices. We utilize no pesticides or insecticides on the trees.

The Australian Carob Co. uses state-of-the-art machinery to produce the products, including a sophisticated carob kibbler, a large carob roaster, and a new carob mill. The Australian Carob Co. is dedicated to producing carob products, which are not only healthy and high in nutritional value, but are also full of flavor and taste great.

Best tasting raw carob!!!!

High quality!

I'm new to the world of carob and wanted to get away from eating as much chocolate due to lead and cadmium concerns.
Discovered Missy J's and the nice line of products available, put in the $100+ order, to try a lot of different products.
Shipping experience wasn't good as Missy J's does not send text or updates on shipping even though it's a weather sensitive product. Items arrived exceedingly well packed only a day earlier than predicted, and I wasn't aware, therefore the order sat out in the hot Tucson sun for 6 hours. According to customer service they don't send out texts but they do (a lot) for advertisements. Not happy about that. No matter how small the business, nor how noble the cause, there's no excuse for poor customer service and primitive communication.
It took quite a bit of time to get used to the carob flavor, as it's definitely not chocolate. It's not bad, it's just not chocolate. Plus I believe if you add enough sugar to just about anything, it will most likely taste pretty good.
I have slowly started incorporating this high quality carob into such things as hot cocoa, and baked goods. It does have that distinct flavor though that really takes some getting used to, therefore, less is certainly more. Since it is an acquired taste, as I wasn't raised with it, the transition to using it as a substitute for chocolate may be a long journey indeed. Nonetheless, I am glad that I tried it.

extremely GOOD

I completely LOVE this COMPLETELY DELICIOUS raw, organically-grown carob!!! Never again will I buy the roasted type in the grocery stores. I was surprised to see the color of it - not a roasted brown but a light tan - sort of pinkish. I live alone but I've already used up 5 pounds of this in the past couple years. I add it daily to the somewhat bitter kratom powder (natural herbal pain-reliever I use for multiple injuries) to improve its flavor. I also add a rounded tablespoonful of the carob to my nearly 1/2 cup of powdered herbs that I use in a big mug of hot water for treating diabetes, and it makes them much tastier to drink. Even beyond those benefits is the way carob never causes my gout to hurt the way chocolate always does. And perhaps best of all is how carob clearly (same day) raises my DOPAMINE levels (I've read that it does, in many articles), enabling be cheerful and more eager to start my day's housework (I'm 70 & have Severe Complex PTSD, along with diabetes & low thyroid, so that's a specially great benefit for me). For that reason, it's best for me to use carob in the morning or midday, rather than at night (sometimes too happy to sleep, though not meaning hyperactive). I'm so thankful to have this Australian raw organic carob. I buy 4 pounds at a time to save on shipping. Never any bad effects and always TOP QUALITY. I keep it in handsome glass jars : )

delicious raw organic carob powder!

I LOOOOVE this carob powder!! Because it is raw, it has a mild, very sweet flavor that works so well for making carob 'chocolate' treats, sweetening and flavoring my green smoothies and my plain yogurt...it tastes absolutely delicious with cashew milk or oat milk for a sweet carob milk treat!! What I love most about it is that you don't need to add any sugar or sweetener to it!
